Buying your Bike

Now that you've decided what bike to purchase, you need to know where to find it.

If you're looking for a new bike, your local dealer is the best place to start.  Purchasing a current year bike from a dealer usually means you'll pay pretty darn close to full list price.  The exception might be when you're buying just before the following year's models are being released.

If you're considering a used bike, be sure to check out eBay.  I've purchased five bikes there in the past two years with great success.  You can search by the type of bike you want and limit the results to only those bikes located within a radius that you determine.  You can also search previous auctions to see at what prices your desired bike has sold.

The secret to getting a good deal on eBay is to be patient and don't get caught up in that auction bidding mentality.  Set your maximum price and don't go over that amount.  If you don't win, don't fret.  Another one just like it will be up for bid in a short time and you might get it at an even better price.  It's happened to me several times.

Used bikes can also be found by searching Craigslist.com for your area or by searching your local newspaper classified section.
